About Mangal Prabhat Lodha

Shri.Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who is known as a robust and strong legislator in politics, was born in Jodhpur on December 18, 1955.

Mr.Lodha was also the General Secretary of Jodhpur University.

He has been associated with the Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS) since his childhood.

He had been an active member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in his student life.

Renowned jurist Justice Gumanmal Lodha, father of Shri. Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who was considered a leader of nationalist ideology, was a three time member of parliament.

In those days he was also actively involved in Jay Prakash Narayan Movement (JP Andolan)

After completing B. Com in 1975 from Jodhpur University, he completed his LLB in 1978 from the same University.

Mr. Lodha had joined the legal profession as an advocate in 1979. After few years, he left legal practice on moral grounds, as his father was appointed Judge in Rajasthan High Court. Mr. Lodha had to say that ‘It is not fair that a son stands as an advocate before his father who is the seated Judge in court room.’ So, he left the legal profession.

He came to Mumbai in 1981, got a job, and then later started his own business. Mr. Lodha handed over his business empire to his two sons and since several years has been completely involved in political and social activities.

Mr. Lodha played an important role in the various responsibilities of total 9 Lok Sabha elections since 1987, and running several social activities under his NGO - Lodha Foundation, and has been a successful electoral strategist.

In 1992 he actively participated in Ram Janm Bhumi Andolan in Mumbai and entered in BJP’s Political circle in Mumbai. After few years Mr. Lodha became Vice President of Mumbai Pradesh BJP and Maharashtra Pradesh BJP.

Mr.Lodha has also been serving as General Secretary of Rambhau Mhalagi Prabodhini.

Mr. Lodha is a senior legislator in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, he has been consistently elected as MLA from Malabar Hill constituency of South Mumbai since 1995 - 1999, 2004 -2009 and 2014 – present by winning close to 70 thousand votes in the 2014 assembly elections, winning with highest percentage in Maharashtra.

He has also contributed significantly in the formation of the Animal Welfare Board in Maharashtra.

Shri.Mangal Prabhat Lodha known for his nationalist leadership was appointed as Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party Chief On16th July, 2019.
